HUGE THANK YOU to the veteran teams for coming to help teach the rookie members- Mecha Dojo, RUBIES, Height Differential, Ponytail Posse, Iron Maidens, and Parallax Shift!! :)

In hopes of helping rookie teams dive into CAD/Programming easier for their first time, we held a CAD/Programming workshop with rookie team members learning, and veteran members teaching one-on-one hands on in our CAD lab! We had over 50 people come, and it was a huge turnout and a lot of fun!!

We started the day with a teacher’s meeting for the veteran “teachers”, while the rookie members played Quizlet LIVE in teams of four, working together to figure out questions about Game Manual Part 1 & 2. We split people into CAD teachers and Programming teachers, and gave them a guide to help their kids. We started teaching programming first, and helped the rookie members navigate Android Studios and the FTC_App_Master package! They learned how to write teleop and autonomous, and learn the Java language overall. Our workshop also went through PTC Creo, and taught the kids how to assembly and how to make custom parts. They were excited and had a lot of questions, so it was super fun working together! Afterwards, we got into mixed groups of 5-6 and did a school wide scavenger hunt (pictures in the gallery).

Overall, it was a funnnnnnn day and everyone, mentors and rookies alike, met new people, learned a lot, and had a blast! :)
